7-String Bass Viol - Viola da Gamba - Lu Mi after Nicholas Bertrand - Deluxe

A staple in Early Music ensembles and Consorts, the Viola da Gamba is a cousin to the Violin family. Evolved from the lute, it has tied-gut frets and its top and back are made of bent wood rather than carved. The shape is reminiscent of a Double Bass, which served as the low bass instrument of both the Violin and Gamba families. 

This instrument has decorative purfling on its flat back, and a fleur decoration below the fingerboard. A warm and woody sound, it plays with a sound of a completely different era, though it can bring new life to modern music with distinct textures.
